A Year Filled with Blessings!

Who would have thought that 2018 would bring about such wonderful growth for Higher Ground Books & Media!  At the beginning of the year, I had a couple of goals for our little publishing company.  One, I wanted to sign two new authors.  Two, I wanted to publish at least five new titles.  These were fairly conservative goals and I wasn't sure we would be able to accomplish either of them.  Things were slow at the beginning of the year.  Lots of starts and stops.  A few sour grapes along the way.  Some unfortunate incidents with less than reputable individuals who were not dealing above board.  And a few months of weary soul-searching about whether or not it even made sense to keep going.  And then, suddenly...a breakthrough. I prayed and prayed for God to help me figure out the direction I needed to take.  And He delivered the most awesome message to me.  He said, "Trust Me."  And in the midst of conflict and disappointment, I handed it all over to Him once again

Melissa Richardson, Author of Lord, Can We Talk?
Lord can We Talk is a book conducted from interviews I did with teens on questions they wanted answers to but were scared to ask. Its done in a dialog form

Born on an unusually hot spring day in 1974, Dave M. Howard came into the world and before long he was struggling to see what the world had to offer. He was prescribed glasses at age four and his world changed from a fuzzy, confused world to a world that was clear, but somehow still confusing. His humor was an outlet as he asked such questions as “Wow, is that what aunt Verna looks like?” and “Is that what grass looks like?”  Dave was a quiet, but easy going child who took to art and storytelling as an escape from the world of restrictions to a world were he could become a superhero, dragon or whatever his imagination put on paper.
Jennifer Brown lives in Springfield Ohio, and has written since third grade. She was taught to read at an early age and fell in love with books, mainly mysteries. Her love of books grew, and in the summer before she started high school she wrote her longest story, halfway filling an old school notebook.  Jennifer has written several stories and has many more in store for readers.  When she is not writing she likes reading, working on computer graphics, editing photos, listening to music, and brainstorming for new ideas!
